MEETING ATTENDANCE

Meeting Opened 1900 hrs at Lang Lang Primary School

President Scott opened the meeting and welcomed all along.  

Family of Rotary:

• Casey phoned in her apologies for this week as she is laid up after a recent OP, best wishes from members for a speedy recovery.
• Past President Sam is checking in for two stints of chemo this month — a chance to sample the very best in hospital dining (we hear it’s an acquired taste!). We’re all behind you Sam, and can’t wait to see you back, stronger and with plenty of stories to share.

General Business:

• Golf Day Update - All going along well.
  • 19 Teams currently registered for the event.
  • Good amount of raffle prizes are in, quilts are impressive!
  • Discussion had around key times throughout the day & roles that members will be taking on for the day
• Discussion around upcoming DG Day on the 5th November
  • Do we look at the Golf Club for hosting event? Offers some positives for the format of the event as well as the possible numbers involved - Scott to reach out to Golf Club
• Organizing & communication underway for Christmas Carols planned for the Lang Lang Hall. Cardinia Civic Concert Band coordinating music order
• Show 'n' Shine event meetings to begin in December ahead of 2026 event

• President Scott discussed a possible initiative for KWR-LL Rotary focusing on domestic violence. Scott & Travis recently took part in an online meeting were this was proposed. Take away Idea's included
  • New Year 2026 Project
  • Engaging local sporting clubs
  • Engaging other local community groups - LLDBCG etc.
  • Look at a local approach to for our community   

• President Scott raised items of interest contained within the latest DG video. One key item was the ‘dollar for dollar’ funds - Could be used to focus on new & updating KWR-LL signage in around the 2 townships as well as signage for food van & bowls club.

President Scotty’s Musings.

15th October 2025

What a fantastic success the 50th Rotary Charity Golf Day was on Friday. Despite the threat of the wind blowing you to into Bass Strait, the day was a great success.

68 golfers, 15 teams and a great time with awesome competition leading to many great prizes.

A special thank you to Andrew Bullen and David Williams who pulled the day together on behalf of the Rotary Club. At the end of the day it was great to see the Champions being Lang Lang locals Paul Christensen, Leigh Thom, Jason Williams and Daniel Fry who completed the 18 holes with a winning score of 54.5.

A special mention to Michele and Robbie for their work arranging sponsors and raffle prizes. I am sure that the day will help raise much needed funds for our club to help our community.

We had many wonderful sponsors for the day with our naming right sponsors Lang Lang Community Bank helping pack the gift bags that all competitors received at the end of the day.

Thanks to the Lang Lang Golf Club for the support on the day and the wonderful lunch and dinner that we all enjoyed.

We displayed our new “4 Way Test” banner and Rotary Flag in the club rooms and all teams were photographed with our flag on hole no 1. These photos were sent to each team along with a follow up thank you message for attending and inviting them back on Sunday.

Tonight we were expecting to have Sonja Bale from Bendigo Bank attend and speak on this month’s theme of Economic and Community Development. Unfortunately, all Bendigo Bank Staff have to attend a meeting on Wednesday night so Sonja has asked for a raincheck which of course we have said yes. This provides us with an opportunity to do a debrief into the Golf Day and then the Board will be able to review everyone’s input and suggestions. I know some of you have some great suggestions! It was originally going to be a Partners night due to the guest speaker however its now more a domestic night however Partners are more than welcome to attend.

As mentioned last meeting, we are hosting our cluster Rotary Meeting on Wednesday 5th November. It has been decided to hold the night at the Lang Lang Golf Club commencing at 6:00pm for fellowship. After discussion with the District Team, an invitation has been extended to Drouin, Leongatha, Phillip Island – San Remo and Wonthaggi clubs to join with us, Bunyip – Garfield and Pakenham Clubs. The Golf Club will do a Roast Meal and Desert at a cost of $35 per person which will also cover the hire of the club house for the night. Drinks will be at bar prices. It will be a partner’s night and I am sure we will all have a great night taking in the sunset down the fairway on hole 1!

We also need to start considering our AGM so i would appreciate guidance from the members.

I look forward to seeing you all Wednesday night at the Lang Lang Bowling Club for a 7:00pm start.
